Lightboard Paris led the organisation of an international competition to design iconic bespoke furniture for Orange's headquarters.
Following the preparation of a detailed brief, approved by Orange's executive management, ten international designers were identified and approached, with their agreement to take part in a competition to design bespoke furniture. Three were then shortlisted and invited to develop a proposal.
At the end of the competition, the jury selected Gilles Belley. The result came as a pleasant surprise: the eventual winner had not initially been the frontrunner, but rather the challenger among the shortlisted designers.
A reminder that a competition is not simply about choosing between established names, but also about creating the conditions for an unexpected proposal to emerge.
